Lots of blog posts are pretty short and shallow. It’s rare to find a really in-depth writeup about something and it’s even rarer to read it on a monitor. Finding in-depth articles on the web can be challenging, so here’s a few that I found that are worth the ink and paper.
- Free chapter from “Javascript: The Good Parts” – Great chapter by the Javascript Yoda himself, Douglas Crockford
- On Designing and Deploying Internet-Scale Services – Best practices on large-scale web service architecture from Microsoft. No pro-MS technologies, just practices and architecture.
- Patterns in IT Litigation: Systems Failure (1976-2000) – Great paper about common patterns in large failed IT projects.
- The Longest Yard: Reorganizing IT for Success – Interesting paper that examines how football teams recruit and train players and how it can be applied to IT teams.
