Stop Loading!

Do you see this image of a blue ball and a percentage? That’s what I see on every page of VW’s new(ish) site. Click, loading. Click, loading. Good god make it stop!

Flash developers: I know Flash can do some really great things, but if a user has to see a loading screen on every page, something is wrong. Rethink how you’ve structured your Flash files or if some of your content needs to be moved out of Flash and into HTML to improve loading times.

In this day and age, one would have thought loading screen’s would have become obsolete. Sadly though, they aren’t. :(

IMO, a non-intrusive throbber in the corner of the menu would have been better. And even better, as you suggested they could have made their flash loading code a bit more intelligent (by pre-loading, not loading everything at once, etc).

Not a programmer. Don’t speak the lingo and not really sure what you mean here.

I was looking for “stop loading” in google because in Yahoo email I can’t cancel or stop a loading page - which can take forever in my case. Bad SP, bad line, etc., here in Thailand.
Always “can’t find server” for just about any link I click on. Really exasperating.

Yayoo (like M$), in their programmers’ infinite wisdom, neglected to THINK AHEAD (and getting worse, like M$) and grayed out the “STOP” icon.

My IE6 has a similar but worse problem when trying to cancel a page download, which never ends. It’s impossible and no one will tell me why. That’s why I’ve switched to FireFox, thanx.

These people just don’t live in the real world. They got no conception of it.

So, I thot I’d look around for someone more intelligent to help me out.

In any case, it’s difficult to get thru to Yahoo Help these days for me (if it still exists). Nowadays they’ve passed the buck to their users (Yahoo Answers), many of whom sound like me, a fresh kindergarten graduate.

So there you have it.

Thanx for the ear,

Jed…

Hi Jed! Yahoo! does have help and customer service still: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/. You can contact them about mail problems here: http://tinyurl.com/32jhhf

There’s also Yahoo! Mail Classic, which is lighter than Yahoo! Mail. Althought you have to load Yahoo! Mail to switch to it.

Hope that helps!
